It's coming to that time of year when we can finally take a breather and recharge our batteries, but I also want to ensure I use it wisely.
I'm an ECT2 and need to balance relaxation with professional growth, I would appreciate any suggestions or experiences others might have to share. How have you spent your summer breaks when you were early in the profession?
I have a small holiday planned but open to a range of ideas for the spare time in between!
So far my plans are just not getting up at half 5 every morning
If you always want to be working signing up to an agency can get you an odd job here and there or volunteering is always nice
My advice would be not to worry about professional development and be selfish and take the time for yourself, we all need it!
After a while you'll start relishing the idea of a summer break and doing as little as possible, take as much of a break as you can
If you're an ECT you'll have a mentor I assume who will know the school and their expectations of you, so best to start with them.
Volunteering locally also rewarding if there's no CPD your school recommends
I've recently got a new rescue kitty that hasn't fully adapted to the new house yet so planning to spend lots of time with him 🙂
Apart from that I want to literally do nothing a lot of the time and relax!
Heading to Clacton for a week by the beach! Going to make the most of the break and be as lazy as possible
Going abroad for 2 weeks to Italy (last holiday i'll be having for a while!!) then by the time I'm back it wont be long before I'm back in school for a couple days preparing, lots of being lazy in between
